I would like to welcome you to our website at Antioch Baptist Church. We are an
Independent Baptist Church that stands on the truths of the word of God.
I would like to begin by sharing a little about myself. I grew up in a Godly home in the small town of Pumpkintown, S.C. My parents were always faithful to church, and I heard the word of God preached during my younger years. I made a profession of faith at a very young age and I was faithful to church and faithful with all the things that involved the youth. But as I got older in my late teen years, I began to get involved in worldly things and doing wicked things, but as long as I lived in my dad’s house I was made to go to church, there were no exceptions.
I met my future wife, Rhonda. After we were married, I quit going to church altogether. I got involved in more wickedness, and became even more vile. We had two precious girls at this time and they went to Bible School at Mile Creek Baptist Church. The pastor followed up on visitation and invited us to church. I really had no desire to go, I had gone all my life and thought I was alright. I was saved. Our children still kept asking to go, so I agreed, I did love my family greatly. We started attending the preaching services, on Sunday Mornings. Later our children wanted to go to Sunday school so my wife and girls started attending Sunday school. My wife also had been faithful in church before we married. One Sunday morning my wife was saved. I then saw a complete turn around in her life. She quit all the worldly habits that she had and became very faithful to the Lord. She also began asking me about my salvation. I told her I was fine, that I was saved. I still continued to go to preaching and was burdened greatly with conviction. I started running from the Lord and became more vile. Then one Monday night after Preacher Roberts had preached on hell, when I had been burdened all day with conviction, my daughter Brianna came and jumped in bed with me and started talking about Heaven. She asked if her sister was going to Heaven, then she asked about her mother, then it came my turn and I realized I could not give her the answer she wanted to hear that her daddy would be in Heaven with her. I also knew I could not tell her no, I knew what I had to do, so that night in my living room I accepted Christ as my Savior.
I then became very active in the Church. I would visit one night a week with the preacher; I became an usher and later a deacon. Then God started dealing with my heart about preaching. I ran for two long years telling God I couldn’t preach. But one Sunday morning I couldn’t run any longer I went to the alter and surrendered my life to God. I then attended Tabernacle Baptist College and earned my Bachelor Degree in Theology. I continued my studies with Southern Indiana Baptist College and earned my masters and Dr. Degree. I have been the Pastor at Antioch since Oct. 2002. I have three daughters and one granddaughter. We would like to invite you to our church if you do not already have a church home.
